From B\u00e9ziers to the Canal du Midi, via Saint-Chinian and the Parc naturel du Haut-Languedoc, the H\u00e9rault reveals itself through its typical villages<\/strong>, vineyards<\/strong> and wide-open spaces<\/strong>. Walk on the Canal du Midi<\/h2>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
\n

Over 350 years old and 240 km long, the Canal du Midi<\/a> stretches from Toulouse to S\u00e8te<\/strong>. It has been aUNESCO<\/strong> World Heritage site since 1996. The canal was created by the great Biterrois builder Pierre Paul Riquet, with the help of no fewer than 12,000 workers. Thanks to its beauty and majesty, it has become a local identity for the region. It has always been used for economic development<\/strong> (agriculture, viticulture, freight, etc.). The river crosses a number of communes, where you can sail<\/strong>, cycle<\/strong> and walk<\/strong>. Numerous hiking and mountain-biking trails <\/strong>have been set up for the enjoyment of enthusiasts. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 9 Fontserannes locks<\/strong> are also classified as a historic monument, a major Occitan site and, like the Canal du Midi, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. They are a must-see on your visit to B\u00e9ziers<\/a> and its Canal du Midi. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/section>\n\n

Visit B\u00e9ziers<\/h2>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Situated 21 km from Cessenon-sur-Orb<\/a>, this French commune in the H\u00e9rault department, Occitanie region, is between land and sea<\/strong>, bordered by vineyards<\/strong> and water, close to the Mediterranean Sea and the plain, making it an ideal and unmissable place to discover.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The St Nazaire cathedral<\/strong> and its view over the region are not to be missed. But also, as mentioned above, the famous Canal du Midi and its 9 locks at Fontserannes, the Pont-Vieux<\/strong>, the all\u00e9es Paul-Riquet<\/strong>, the municipal theater <\/strong>and the Plateau des Po\u00e8tes<\/strong> in the heart of the city center, all of which make it a rich tourist attraction and an unforgettable stopover during your vacation! <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/section>\n\n

Discover Saint Chinian<\/h2>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Come and visit Saint Chinian<\/a>, a village founded in 825 with a monastery, located in the hinterland near the C\u00e9vennes. Today, the monastery is relatively well preserved. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The abbey was not as fortunate as the monastery, and was dissolved during the French Revolution. The former church is now the village hall. The remains of the former abbey church can be seen behind the hall (formerly the Cloister). <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Today, the village is well known for its wine production <\/strong>(mainly red and ros\u00e9).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Discover the opportunity to visit, taste and buy local wines with, for example, Domaine Les Eminades (Luc and Patricia Bettoni).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
